Tenant & Resident Groups

There are presently over 40 tenant and resident groups and garden tool schemes formally recognised by Housing Services, which serve residents across the city. A further 35 groups are recognised by Northwards Housing, which manages Council homes in North Manchester.

A tenant and resident group, or association, is an organisation of local volunteers, which operates within a defined geographical area, such as a local council estate or a single tower block. Tenant and resident groups that are formally recognised and funded by the TPU are open to all residents living within their boundaries. This includes people who have bought their council home and can include private residents within the chosen boundaries of an association. However, to gain recognition a group must have a membership that consists of at least 51% council tenants.
