Charging for Non Attendance

Although all provider training is free, if individuals who have received confirmation of their place on a course fail to attend, or send a suitable replacement in their place, a charge of £25 will be made.  Where a charge for non-attendance is applicable an invoice will be sent to the service manager of the individual concerned.

Service User Consultation and Involvement

The ODPM National Training Package on Service User Involvement was produced by Manchester's Supporting People Team, and was made by people who use supported housing services in the city.  The package is aimed not just at those who work in the sector, but also those who receive support.  Training was held in August 2005 to introduce the CLG National Training Package on Service User Involvement. This event was held to share the training package, explain the Manchester view, raise awareness of consultation and involvement, and share best practice models of practice.

Lone Working and Personal Safety - 19 May 2009

The course provides a relevant, practical event, specifically designed to equip delegates with the skills to manage their personal safety and the risks associated with lone working. The course is for people who work in a closed environment or in the community.

Needs Assessment and Support Planning - 2 & 3 June 2009

This  two day course will develop existing knowledge, skills and confidence, to enable delegates to deliver positive motivational assessments and effective support planning. Using goal planning as the central tool, empower and motivate others to take action to change their lives.

Effective Service User Involvement - 23 June 2009

This course will develop understanding of service user involvement, focussing on the skills and strategies that are required for effective involvement.

Manchester Advice and Information Network (MAIN)

MAIN is an umbrella organisation providing support to advice agencies in Manchester.  MAIN includes agencies from the statutory and voluntary sector, such as law centres, independent advice agencies, the city council and other voluntary advice agencies.

Training on a range of advice issues is co-ordinated by Manchester Advice on behalf of the MAIN.
