North West Supporting People Accreditation Scheme

The North West Accreditation Scheme is intended to complement the requirements of the CLG Regulations for Supporting People Grant by establishing and implementing a standard contract accreditation system on behalf of all participating local authorities in the scheme.

At present the following local authorities have signed up to the scheme, so providers applying to any one of these authorities can request passporting through some of the required criteria if they have an existing accreditation with another local authority in the scheme.

Each local authority will assess a provider using the agreed form.

• Cumbria County Council
• Halton Borough Council
• Knowsley Council
• Lancashire County Council
• Liverpool City Council
• Manchester City Council
• Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council
• Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council
• Salford City Council
• Sefton Council
• St Helens Council
• Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council
• Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council
• Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council
• Wigan Metropolitan Borough Council
• Wirral Council

Manchester City Council on behalf of the scheme has developed a secure database for officers of the other North West local authorities with the scheme to use to confirm status of providers that apply for accreditation in the region.  When providers have been awarded accreditation by any of the authorities, their names and services provided will be added to the secure database via notification from nominated officers within each authority to Manchester Supporting People Team.

Providers do not have access to this database, nor do other authorities that have not signed up to the North West Scheme.  If, however, you have any queries about the accreditation process or your status on the database please write to or email:
